Olympic Ho

I am a total Olympic Ho. I love to watch the Olympics, and if I didn't have to work I would be glued to the tube all day every day for the duration of the Games. I do keep my eye on the CBC Olympics website during the workday.

My favourite is the curling (I love curling). I'm a bit disappointed in Brad Gushue for adding crusty old Russ Howard to his team. Yes, it got him into the Olympics, but is this really the place to be working on team chemistry? Appartently it's been troubling the team during the tournament. Gushue's benefited from a lot of his opponents' mistakes. I know he had to be in a place where he could benefit from those mistakes, but he's climbed out of a number of holes because of an opponent missing a shot.

Other than curling, which I don't really need to wait for the Olympics to see, I've especially found short track speed skating and snowboard-cross exciting, despite (or maybe because of?) the frustration of spills and disqualifications in both those sports.

I don't care much for the men's hockey (that hasn't stopped me from watching it, of course) - it seems to be pretty much the NHL with the teams shuffled, and I'm not a big hockey fan to begin with. But we don't often see women's hockey on TV, so I was glad to see Sweden make it to the gold medal game against Canada. As has been pointed out ad nauseum by Brian Williams, this was a two-nation sport for many years, and we now have a third nation entering the hunt for the gold medal.

Now I need to get back to the Olympics - a bit disappointed that I have to run this morning and will miss a couple of hours of coverage.

You and your father are definietly bonding over the Olympics. I must admit I join him for many hours as well. It's nice to have something to watch in the middle of the night. I also enjoyed Kurt Brownings comments about Emmanuel Sandu. Now back to my report cards and HGTV.
