Yay me

rfc-myback.jpg I did it! In 39:58, a personal best time. Okay, any time would have been a personal best, but I haven't run 5K in under 40 minutes even during practice runs. And I ran for 20 minutes straight (excluding a short walk through the water station at 2K), keeping up with a few other members of my team. After that I went back to my 10-and-1s, running solo.

Now my legs are tired. My knee hurts, but just a bit. It stiffened up a lot after the race, but today is nearly back to normal. The source of the problem is apparently my IT-band, a typical problem area for runners. I think 5K is still too long for me to go on a regular basis - I'll stick to running for 20 to 30 minutes, and try to increase my distance in that time.

But the very best news? As a team we raised over $4,000 for breast cancer research, with over $450 coming from my sponsors. Thanks to my most recent donors: Claude, Joanne, and Bernie.

Anyone who wanted to donate and missed the race, online donations are being accepted until the end of the month.

Congratulations. I am very proud of you. Look after your IT-band and keep up the good work.
