We had a dramatic bird rescue a couple of weeks ago. Somehow this poor bird managed to get himself into a nasty predicament. How, I do not know. This is the crook in the triple shepherd's hook on which I hang my birdfeeders.

Amy put on her gloves and decided to do a bit of rescuing. She very gently lifted the poor scared bird out of the hook.

And took it over to the picnic table. After sitting for a minute or two (and thanking its lucky stars, I'm sure), it flew away.

My Amy, hero to birds.
Posted by Sarah at September 15, 2005 10:33 PMHi--I'm a lurker...
Hooray for Amy! She is a hero! I'm sure that birdy was oh so grateful for her. I rescue birds that fly into my window. I was told, and it works beautifully, to cover them with a shoe box or something like that. The darkness calms them, and then check on them every 10 to 15 minutes. They'll fly when they are recovered and ready. Again, way to go, Amy!

Posted by: Gramma B at September 18, 2005 11:30 AMI am so happy to see the Drummond news!! I remember as a little girl all of you playing that at Grandpa's house. I have not seen your girls in so long and cannot believe how big Amy is. I am going to try and post a picture of Cameron. I look forward to reading your site.
